Home Care Protocol
Start by strengthening your skin barrier morning and evening. It can take two weeks to two months to help rejuvenate the skin barrier, so be patient and consistent with your skin care routine.
MORNING
STEP 1: Use Cleanser to gently yet effectively remove dirt and oil without stripping your skin.
STEP 2: Apply Recovery or if skin is super oily or feels tight, use Booster or Skin Serum. This is going to help reduce redness and clear your breakouts faster.
STEP 3: Apply Barrier Renewal Cream if your skin feels dry or choose the Light Moisturizer if your skin is oily.
STEP 4: Apply an acne-safe mineral sunscreen with a SPF of 30 or higher and be sure to reapply every two hours when outdoors or mid-day when indoors to protect your skin from UV rays and prevent acne scars.
EVENING
STEP 1:Use Cleanser once in the evening, or twice if wearing makeup and be sure to rinse with warm, never hot water.
STEP 2: Apply Recovery or if skin feels tight, use Booster or Skin Serum. This is going to be the best investment for your skin.
STEP 3: Apply Barrier Renewal Cream if your skin feels dry or choose the Light Moisturizer if your skin is oily.
STEP 4: Spray MB-1 across the face and neck to help balance your skin’s microbiome and reduce acne-causing bacteria.
If your skin isn’t red, tight or dry and is now feeling comfortable, these are signs that your skin barrier has strengthened! Your skin is likely ready for an exfoliating acid, which will help target the acne bacteria. Keep your evening acne care routine consistent.
First, determine what you see more of on your skin: Non-inflamed breakouts without redness (open and or closed comedones) like blackheads and congestion or inflamed breakouts with redness like papules, pustules and or cysts.
If you are experiencing more non-inflamed acne breakouts, choose Salicylic Acid Gel. If you are experiencing more inflamed acne breakouts, choose Mandelic Acid 8%. Incorporate one of these into your evening skin care routine in place of Recovery, Booster or Skin Serum, like this:
EVENING, ONCE SKIN IS COMFORTABLE
STEP 1: Use Cleanser once in the evening, or twice if wearing makeup and be sure to rinse with warm, never hot water.
STEP 2: Apply 1 pump of Mandelic Acid 8% or Salicylic Acid Gel. Let it absorb into your skin for about five minutes. Apply one of these exfoliating serums once per week for the first week. In the second week, apply it twice per week. In the third week, increase it to three times per week. Use Recovery, Booster or Skin Serum on the opposing evenings. Going slow will help to prevent acne purging and will help you find your skin’s sweet spot. Pair back if you notice signs of over-exfoliation (increased redness, dryness or oiliness). If skin is still feeling comfortable, increase to four times per week by alternating your evenings.
Example: Monday – Mandelic Acid 8%, Tuesday – Recovery, Wednesday – Mandelic Acid 8%, Thursday – Recovery, Friday – Mandelic Acid 8%, Saturday – Recovery, Sunday – Mandelic Acid 8%.
Continue this rotation for 4 weeks consistently to ensure that your skin isn’t showing signs of over-exfoliation. If your skin continues to feel comfortable, increase to five times per week.
Example: Monday – Friday Mandelic Acid 8%, Saturday – Sunday Recovery
STEP 3: Apply 1 pump of Barrier Renewal Cream if your skin feels dry or 1 pump of the Light Moisturizer if your skin is oily.
STEP 4: Spray MB-1 across the face and neck to help balance your skin’s microbiome and reduce acne-causing bacteria.

ACNE FAQS
How long does it take to clear acne? It takes about 6 months on average to clear acne when working with a skin professional. Keep in mind that everyone’s skin is different, so it may take you more or less time, depending on your case.
Is it necessary for me to use MB-1? Topical probiotics can help rebalance your skin’s microbiome and reduce acne-causing bacteria, so it’s a good idea to include it in your skin care routine. We encourage you to mist your skin with MB-1 throughout the day for best results.
Should I add Skin Restore? Retinoids help increase cellular turnover, regulate oil production and prevent acne formation in the skin. It’s a great idea to include it in month 3 or 4 once you’re experiencing less breakouts so that your skin isn’t overstimulated by too many active products. We recommend you start by rotating it into your evening skin care routine a few times per week (Example: Monday Mandelic Acid 8%, Tuesday Skin Restore, Wednesday Recovery, Thursday Mandelic Acid 8%, Friday Skin Restore, Saturday Recovery, Sunday Mandelic Acid 8%). After a few weeks to one month of successfully introducing it to your skin, try layering Skin Restore on top of your exfoliating serum (Mandelic Acid 8% or Salicylic Gel) in place of your moisturizer. If that is working well for you, you can try five days on layering Recovery, Mandelic Acid 8% and Skin Restore in that order Monday to Friday and two nights off to support your skin barrier with Recovery, Barrier Renewal Cream and MB-1 in that order.
Can diet affect acne? What you eat definitely influences how your skin looks and feels. Try to eat whole foods as much as possible and minimize inflammatory foods like dairy, gluten, refined sugar. Try reducing your caffeine intake by swapping coffee for green tea and avoid drinking energy drinks and fruit juices. Make sure you’re drinking enough filtered water (70-100 oz per day). Your body must be hydrated to support your acne journey! Focus on balancing your blood sugar by ensuring each meal or snack contains protein and fiber. Remember that dieting is unsustainable and can negatively impact mental health, so it’s about what you do most of the time rather than avoiding pizza altogether. Enjoy it once a week or once a month, and listen to your body! Your stomach and your skin will often tell you what is supportive and what is not.
Will popping pimples make acne worse? Yes, it will for sure. Avoid picking at your skin as it will not only spread the bacteria and cause more breakouts, you also risk scarring your skin. Ice your breakouts instead to help reduce redness and clear them faster. After cleansing, grab an ice cube and run it across your breakouts for 1 minute on, one minute off for 3 minutes total. Proceed with the rest of your skin care routine.
Can stress cause acne breakouts? While a bit of stress is good, chronic stress can cause a hormonal imbalance where cortisol, your stress hormone, is elevated and puts your nervous system stuck into a fight or flight state. When you’re chronically stressed, your body cannot properly rest, digest or clear breakouts. Stress management is a critical part of treating acne – so be sure to prioritize movement such as walking or yoga, clearing your mind with journaling or meditation and or any practice that helps you prevent feeling overwhelmed and better manage your stress. Make sure that you’re prioritizing sleep as well.
Should I add Vibrant C Serum to my morning routine? It’s easy to overstimulate acne-prone skin so keep your routine simple as much as possible. Reserve using Vibrant C Serum on days you’re going to be outside in the sun unless your skin is mostly clear or you’re on a maintenance protocol.
