Home Care Protocol

MORNING

STEP 1: Dispense 3 pumps of Moisturizing Mist to a cotton round and 3 directly to the face. Sweep across the face to lightly refresh and hydrate your skin. After a few weeks to a month, start using 1-2 pumps of Cleanser in the morning to remove sweat, dirt and dead skin so that the products you apply next will absorb properly.

STEP 2: Apply 1 pump of Booster or Skin Serum while skin is still damp.

STEP 3 (optional): Immediately follow with Eye Serum around your eyes and over your lips.

STEP 4: Apply 1-2 pumps of Intensive Moisturizer.

STEP 6: Finish with a mineral sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher and be sure to re-apply every two hours when outdoors or mid-day when indoors.

EVENING

STEP 1 (optional): Remove any eye and lip makeup with Erase the Day on a cotton round.

STEP 2: Use Cleanser once in the evening, or twice if wearing makeup and be sure to rinse with warm, never hot water.

STEP 3 (optional): Once or twice a week, apply a thin layer of Fresh Face Mask or Enzyme Crème Mask to damp or dry skin (avoid your eye area). Leave on your skin for 3-8 minutes, then remove with a warm wet face towel. Choose Fresh Face to promote increased circulation and bring vibrancy back to your complexion. Choose Enzyme Crème Mask if you prefer a creamy treatment and would like to also target discoloration like sun spots.

STEP 4: Spritz Moisturizing Mist across your face and neck to prepare your skin for treatment serums and promote absorption.

STEP 5: Apply 1 pump Booster or Skin Serum.

STEP 6 (optional): Apply Eye Serum around your eyes and over your lips.

STEP 7: Immediately apply 1-2 pumps of Intensive Moisturizer.

FAQs

What’s the difference between dry skin and dehydrated skin?

Dry skin is a skin type — it means your skin produces less oil (sebum) than it needs to stay soft and protected. It’s often genetic and tends to feel rough, flaky, or tight all the time, regardless of the season. The NeoGenesis Intensive Moisturizer is emollient rich to replace the oils that your skin is lacking to help soften and moisturize your skin.

Dehydrated skin, on the other hand, is a temporary skin condition — it means your skin lacks water, not oil. Even oily or combination skin types can be dehydrated. It may feel tight, dull, sensitive, or show fine lines more easily. The NeoGenesis Booster and Skin Serum contain hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin that your skin makes naturally, to increase your skin’s water content and reduce that uncomfortable tight feeling that comes with dehydrated skin.

Does water intake affect my skin’s dryness?

Yes — your water intake definitely influences your skin’s hydration so drinking 70-100 oz. of filtered water daily is important.

Drinking enough water helps support overall body function, including circulation and nutrient delivery to the skin. However, if your skin’s barrier is compromised or you’re in a dry environment, that internal hydration can easily be lost through the skin (called transepidermal water loss, or TEWL).

So while staying well-hydrated is important, treating dry skin effectively also requires topical hydration (like humectants) and barrier-repairing moisturizers to lock in moisture from the outside. This is where your NeoGenesis skin care routine will really help!

Should I avoid hot water or long showers to help with my dry skin?

Yes — avoiding hot water and long showers can definitely help improve dry skin.

Hot water strips away the skin’s natural oils, which are essential for maintaining a healthy barrier. Long showers, especially in hot water, can worsen dryness by increasing transepidermal water loss (TEWL), leaving your skin feeling tight, itchy, or flaky afterward. Use lukewarm water instead of hot, keep showers and baths under 10 minutes and apply Moisturizing Mist, Booster or Skin Serum and a NeoGenesis Moisturizer immediately after towel-drying to lock in moisture.

How often should I exfoliate if I have dry skin?

If you have dry skin, exfoliating 1 to 2 times per week is usually enough — and even then, it should be very gentle.

Over-exfoliating can strip your skin’s natural oils and damage the protective barrier, making dryness and sensitivity worse. Instead of physical scrubs (which can be too abrasive), opt for mild chemical exfoliants like fruit acids in the NeoGenesis Fresh Face Mask or fruit enzymes in the Enzyme Creme Mask for gentle yet effective exfoliation. And play around with the time you leave it on for – start with 3 minutes and slowly increase to 8, if it feels good.

Are certain cleansers making my skin more dry?

Yes — certain cleansers can absolutely make your skin drier, especially if they’re too harsh or stripping. To avoid this, steer clear of harsh surfactants like SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate), drying alcohols, synthetic fragrance, more than one essential oil found at the top of the ingredient list, all of which can all disrupt the skin’s barrier and lead to increased moisture loss.
