FAQs
How should I clean a wound?
Use the NeoGenesis Cleanser with water or a saline solution. Avoid using hydrogen peroxide or alcohol—they can damage healthy tissue and delay healing.
How often should I change the bandage?
Change it daily or whenever it becomes wet, dirty, or loose. Some modern dressings can be left on for several days if the wound is clean and dry.
How do I know if a wound is infected?
Signs include increased redness, swelling, pus, foul odor, warmth, or fever. If symptoms worsen, seek medical attention.
Should I let a wound “air out” or keep it covered?
It’s best to keep a wound covered and slightly moist rather than letting it “air out.” Moist wound healing helps new skin cells grow more efficiently, speeds up the healing process, and reduces the risk of scarring. Covering the wound also protects it from bacteria, dirt, and trauma, which helps prevent infection. Exposing a wound to air can cause it to dry out and form a scab, which may slow healing and increase discomfort. Dressings should be changed daily or when they become dirty or wet. Overall, keeping the wound clean, moist, and protected is key to faster healing and better outcomes.
What ointments or products help restore the health of topical wounds faster?
Applying Recovery + directly to the open wound 3-4 times daily can help accelerate the healing process. Applying an occlusive, such as petroleum jelly on top is recommended to keep the wound moist and not have it dry out. For chronic or surgical wounds, hydrocolloid or silicone dressings may be more effective.
How can I minimize scarring?
To minimize scarring, it’s important to keep the wound moist, clean, and covered during the healing process. A moist environment supports healthy skin regeneration and prevents scab formation, which can lead to more noticeable scars. Using NeoGenesis Recovery will help to renormalize the tissue to minimize scarring. It’s also crucial to protect the area from sun exposure, as UV rays can darken healing skin and make scars more visible and permanent. Applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) or physically covering the area with clothing can help. Consistent wound care and early intervention are key to achieving the best cosmetic outcome.
