“My client was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) stage 3 of the tongue, HPV-positive with node involvement. He had oral surgery in November to remove his teeth and an Alveoloplasty was performed to smooth the remaining jawbone.

He was given chemo drugs Carboplatin and Paclitaxel weekly.

He underwent 35 radiation treatments over a 7-week period.

I started him on NeoGenesis Recovery serum and Barrier Renewal Cream 2 weeks pre-radiation. He continued using the Recovery and Barrier Renewal Cream during his treatments. He also started using MB-2* in the evenings.

At one point he ran out of the Recovery serum for 2 days, and his radiation dermatitis flared up.

As you can see from the photos, he has recovered remarkedly well. He continued to use the Recovery serum multiple times per day until the healing was complete.” – Tracy Lacina

Radiation Dermatitis

Undergoing radiation during cancer treatment can be extremely damaging to the skin. A common side effect of radiation is a skin condition called radiation dermatitis, also known as X-ray dermatitis or radiation burns. Concentrated exposure to radiation causes painful, red marks on the skin. As radiation treatment continues, the skin doesn’t have enough time between doses to heal. Eventually, the affected area of the skin breaks down. This causes pain, discomfort, and rashes. Many patients undergoing radiation will experience moderate-to-severe skin reactions that typically occur within the first two weeks of the treatment. Unfortunately, these reactions can last for several years after the radiation therapy is complete. It is important to work with your health care professional when dealing with radiation dermatitis. With the right approach, this side effect can be reduced or eliminated.
